Overview

Pionex flips the model: instead of charging for bots, they built the bots into a regulated exchange and make money on trading fees (0.05%). Sixteen bot types — GRID, DCA, arbitrage, rebalancing, infinity GRID — all free. No subscription, no hidden costs. Because it is a full exchange, funds stay on Pionex rather than connecting via API to third parties. The trade-off: you are limited to Pionex's own exchange and listed pairs. No Binance, no Kraken, no external connections. Good for beginners. Not for multi-exchange traders.

3 - good starter platform, but you'll outgrow it quickly

Pionex is excellent for learning how trading bots work — the 16 built-in bots cover all the basic strategies and the interface makes it easy to understand what each parameter does. I recommend it to all my friends who are new to automated trading. But within 2-3 months, most active traders will hit the limitations: you can't customize the bot logic beyond the preset parameters, the backtesting is basic, and the exchange's coin selection is limited compared to major exchanges. The grid and DCA bots perform well in ranging markets but struggle in strong trends. The arbitrage bot sounds cool but rarely finds profitable opportunities after fees. I've moved my main trading to 3Commas for more flexibility, but I still think Pionex is the best on-ramp for beginners. Use it for 2-3 months to learn bot trading basics, then graduate to a more flexible platform when you're ready. The fact that it's free makes it a zero-risk learning tool.

5 - the easiest way to start with trading bots — and it's free

Pionex is a crypto exchange with 16 built-in trading bots, and it's the most beginner-friendly way to get into automated trading. No API keys, no separate platform, no VPS — everything is built into the exchange. I started with the grid trading bot on BTC 3 months ago and it's been consistently profitable in the sideways market. The bots are genuinely free to use (you only pay exchange trading fees, which are low at 0.05%). The mobile app is excellent — I manage all my bots from my phone. For beginners, this is where you should start. Learn how grid and DCA bots work in a safe environment before moving to more complex platforms. The downsides: you're limited to the 16 bot types they offer (no custom strategies), the exchange has fewer coins than Binance or KuCoin, and it's not available to US users. But for what it is — a free, exchange-integrated bot platform — Pionex is unmatched. I've since expanded to other platforms but still run my original grid bots on Pionex as a stable baseline.
