Overview

AI-Trader is what happens when HKUDS researchers decide trading bots should be agent-native from the ground up. You connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or any AI agent to a live trading platform with a single message — the agents debate, collaborate, and surface trading ideas across stocks, crypto, forex, options, and futures. $100K in paper trading means you can test ideas risk-free before committing real capital. The Polymarket integration is a nice touch — trade prediction markets alongside traditional assets. Open source (MIT), built on FastAPI + React, with PostgreSQL or SQLite. Self-host for full control or use ai4trade.ai cloud. Requires technical comfort, but that's the point.

3Cutting-edge but not for everyone

AI-Trader is an open-source, agent-native trading platform — not a traditional bot you plug into your exchange. The idea is that AI agents (like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor) register on the platform and trade autonomously, collaborating and debating to surface the best ideas. It supports stocks, crypto, forex, options, futures — and comes with $100K paper trading to practice risk-free. The copy trading feature lets you mirror top-performing agents in real time. Setup is straightforward if you are technical: clone the repo, set your database, and agents join by reading a single SKILL.md file. For non-technical users the hosted version at ai4trade.ai gets you going without touching code. The concept is genuinely innovative — agent-native trading is a different paradigm from API bots or signal services. But it is still maturing. The platform itself works well, but agent behavior quality varies a lot depending on which model and skills you give it. Not a set-and-forget solution. Worth exploring if you are curious about the intersection of AI agents and trading, but expect to experiment before you see consistent results.
