If you're willing to invest the learning time and have a technical background, Hummingbot is the most professional free trading infrastructure you can get.

★5 - the gold standard for open-source market making

Hummingbot is hands-down the best open-source market making and arbitrage framework available. I run pure market making strategies on 5 pairs across Binance and Gate.io, collecting spread + rebates. After several months of tuning, I'm averaging steady monthly returns on deployed capital, which is excellent for a market-neutral strategy. The community is incredibly active — the Discord has real quants sharing configs and alpha. The new Hummingbot Dashboard (v2) is a massive improvement over the old CLI-only interface. It's still not 'beginner-friendly' — you need Python knowledge, Docker comfort, and a solid understanding of market microstructure. But for anyone serious about market making or cross-exchange arbitrage, the price (free) and flexibility (full source code access) are unbeatable. I run it on a $20-50/month VPS with 4 GB RAM. The only closed-source competitor that comes close costs larger/month. If you're a technical trader who wants a professional market making setup without the enterprise price tag, Hummingbot is the answer.

★4 - Solid framework but Docker setup was a pain

I have been running Hummingbot for the better part of this year doing simple cross-exchange market making on Binance and KuCoin. The strategy execution is rock solid — once it is running, it just works. Fills are fast, logging is clear, and I can audit every single trade. But getting there... man. The Docker Compose setup took me a full weekend and I am a backend dev by trade. Gateway config is way more complicated than it needs to be. The new Dashboard v2 is a huge improvement over the old terminal-only interface but it is still rough around the edges. If you are technical and want a free professional-grade market making setup, it is worth the effort. If you want something that works in 10 minutes, look elsewhere. I am sticking with it because once configured, nothing beats the flexibility for the price (free).
